Event : Bilcare ATF Series Tournament

Econ Ace Tennis Academy and Bilcare hosted Bilcare ATF Asian Tennis Tournament at the Mhalunge Balewadi Tennis Complex, Pune from May 23-29, 2009. This under 14 age group series tournament is as a result of initiative taken by Econ Ace Tennis Academy and Bilcare to promote the spirit of sports amongst youngsters.

Bilcare Research through Bilcare Foundation promotes excellence in sports and offer quality exposure to rural youth. It has always encouraged young talent in all fields including sports. Bilcare's CSR initiatives primarily focus on keeping alive the effervescent spirit of curiosity and imagination in children by empowering them with educational aids and information platforms.

Bilcare Foundation has been associated with this event for last few years and believes that it is a key platform to drive players to Asian level, who are now playing on ITF junior circuits. It is committed in promoting and channelizing the energy of youth in a positive way through sports.

ATF Asian Tennis tournament is one of the four Asian under 14 series tournaments allotted to India and this is for the third consecutive year the tournament will be hosted in Pune. The ATF Asian under 14 Series Tennis Tournament is a part of the Asian Junior series introduced by the Asian Tennis Federation for players all over Asia. More than 20 tournaments form part of this series.

T.S Jude Raymond and C.Sai Samhita both of Chennai won a memorable double crown claiming the boys and girls singles and doubles title. T.S Jude Raymond scored a 6-3,7-5 win over the top seeded Bendre , while top seeded C. Sai Samitha stopped the winning run of Ambika Pandey scoring a 6-2,6-3 straight set win.

The winners received 300 Asian ranking points, while the runners up received 200 Asian ranking points. The tournament featured no foreigners this year and hence was open for Indian players to garner points.

Boys under 14:

  • T.S Jude Raymond (S-2) bt Anvit Bendre (S-1) 6-3,7-5

Girls under 14:

  • C. Sai Samhitha (S-1) bt Ambika Pandey (S-7) 6-2,6-3

Boys: Doubles (Final) :

  • Anvit Bendre/Jude Ramyond bt Rishabh Agarwal/SK Mukund 6-3,6-2

Girls: Doubles:(Final) :

  • Dhruti Venugopal/ Samitha Sai bt Roma Chandiran/ Srijita Ghosh 6-4,6-1

Special Prizes :

  • Most improved player: Ambika Pandey
  • Most promising player: Dhruti Venugopal
